Men's Advance 2012

Men,

I’m writing to you today to encourage you to sign up ASAP for our 2012 Men’s Advance! A number of you men have already signed up, but I want to encourage every man in the church to be at this year’s Advance. This year, as every year, the Advance will be significant in the life of the church through the leading of the men.

This year we’ll be continuing our “Retrain” theme. The full theme for this year’s Advance will be “Retrain: Trained Through Pain.” We’ll be considering that reality of Hebrews 2:10, “For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.” We’ll see how we, like Jesus, are trained through the pain associated with suffering, and also consider how we, unlike Jesus, can even be trained through the pain that comes from the consequences of sin, and how Jesus is big enough to redeem even that.

This year we’ll be led in worship by my friend Tim Timmons, former Worship Pastor at Mariners Church and Christian Recording Artist. Tim is an incredible man who loves Jesus incredibly. This year we’ll also be led in teaching by myself, as well as other seasoned men in our church. I can’t wait to open God’s Word alongside them.
